West Virginia’s Rich Rodriguez is the new U of M head football coach. Under the circumstances I don’t think you could ask for much more. It’ll definitely be more fun watching a spread offense for a change, even if Ryan Mallett isn’t the ideal QB to lead that style.
This is the greatest thing to happen to Michigan since ….. Lloyd retired. In fact, I think I like this better than Miles. I was at the Big House for the Ohio State game. A terrible display of offense. I am confident that I will never see that again in my lifetime.
Also, the number 1 recruit, spread offense QB, is now considering Michigan.
Go Blue.

The more I think about it the more I agree. I had kind of resigned myself to some sort of internal promotion (and ten years of continued stagnant “Big Ten” offense) or a Ball State caliber coach. It’s a nice surprise when a coach coming off of three straight double digit win seasons in a BCS conference jumps ship (which maybe leads to a few questions about his character, but we’ll see). I had been rooting for Cinci’s Brian Kelly if nothing else than to see a more explosive offense and this definitely beats that. I’d rather lose to OSU 40-30 and feel like we could rip off 14 points any minute and win it, than to lose 14-3 and know we’re out of it at half time. Too bad Hart’s done, as it would’ve been awfully fun watching him in a more creative offense. Lose some of the draw plays and put him in space (presumably with some other speed athletes around to draw attention as well).
Good catch on the Terrelle Pryor story too. What better way for Rodriguez to start building rapport with a star recruit then to break news to him before the media.

Yeah, this looks like great news. Good job Bill Martin. Although the way he left West Virginia might make you question his character a bit.
